For those near Atalanta GA, if you know of anyone who would like to

volunteer, please contact Mischa directly by clicking on her name below.

We are a little behind the 8 ball getting this invite out this year. We need

all types of volunteers! The LEGO part of the Championship event runs from

check in Wednesday to Awards on Friday night, April 16-18. If you know for sure

that you can commit to Wed pm, Thur and Friday all day then please let me know

if you’d consider volunteering in a judging capacity. You will still need to go

into VIMS as outlined below to get registered and go through the background

check process but it will help me know to track your registration and that you

are definitely available!

If you know of others from energy or other coporate industries that would be

interested in donating their time please let me know that as well. We’d like to

give them the VIP treatment.

Another HUGE need we have is for translators….almost all a languages. There

will be 84 teams at the LEGO World Festival event with only about 35 of those

from the US. This is also the 10th anniversary for LEGO League. There are some

special appearances planned….I know that the astronaut that helped plan the

first Challenge will be speaking and there will be a HUGE public LEGO building

project that will be donated for display somewhere in GA after the event. So

come join the fun from the inside!

Please forward this info to any appropriate groups that can help.

Thanks,

~Mischa

Hello everyone. Once again, we are seeking volunteers for this year’s

FIRST LEGO League World Festival in Atlanta, Georgia on 16-18 April,

2008. As many of you know, this is an opportunity to experience FIRST at

its best with teams from around the world coming to compete. It is a

celebration not easily forgotten and your participation is most

appreciated.

The following links will provide the answers to most of the questions

you have concerning the World Festival. As before, an important

requirement is that everyone volunteering must register in the Volunteer

Information Management System (VIMS). The link

https://my.usfirst.org/vims/logon.lasso?page=logon will get you started.

Also please take a look at the available positions and select the ones

that you think you would most like to do. In advance, thank you very

much for your support and help with this great event.

Once you have registered in VIMS and committed to volunteering then we

will get in touch and finalize your assignment at the event. We’ll work

with you to make sure you are comfortable with you assignment and it

meets your expectation of what you want to get out of your experience.

As a confirmed volunteer for the 2008 FIRST World Festival in Atlanta

you have the option of using the FIRST Championship Volunteer Hotel

program to reserve a room(s) in Atlanta. In order to receive information

on this program and the location and rates involved, please log in to

your file in the VIMS system and click on the “Volunteer Preferences”

tab at the top of the page. Once there, click on the “Championship

Volunteer Hotels” button. You will receive an email with information

about the hotel program from FIRST@steelemeetings com.

If at any time you have specific questions or concerns please let us

know and we will do our best to work with you.

We look forward to seeing your registration in VIMS, and meeting you at

the event.

Best Regards,

  • Unschooling
Defining unschooling is a little like describing a color, and every bit as elusive. You can rely on commonly-held descriptions; for example, we generally all agree what blue looks like, but what about cobalt, aqua, navy, cyan, sapphire, azure, indigo, cerulean, turquoise or cornflower? It’s the same with unschooling. There’s a generally accepted definition, […]
