If HEM Takes a Closer Look at Unit Studies has sparked an interest, you might consider exploring a few of these favorite resources from HEM Guide to Resources.
A unit study is really an opportunity to explore any subject in depth, using a variety of resources to create it. You can even veer off to other areas of the subject if they grab your interest. By clicking on any of the categories to the right of this blog you will access the many resources that would be helpful for a unit study.
Sometime I would love to explore the life and works of Beatrix Potter and I already found awebsite that put a unit study together, The Life, Times and Stories of Beatrix Potter by Helena Gosline.
Here are a few resources from the HEM Guide to Resources archives that struck me as useful if we were preparing a unit study on birds:
And below are some resources we might use if we were developing a geography unit study:
- Earth Observatory from NASA
- Online Map Collection from Yale University
- Know Your USA
- Geocaching – High-tech Treasure Hunting
HEM’s Guide to Homeschooling Resources offers a growing list of learning resources which are reviewed and described, links to the companies’ websites, occasional interviews with companies or individuals about their resources and much more! HEM’s Guide to Homeschooling Resources also welcomes comments and suggestions by homeschoolers who use these resources. Every couple of days I will be adding a few new resources, so I’d love to hear about your favorites in the reply box below!
