Recorded Books Offers Free Audio for Bridge to Terabithia

Prince Frederick, MD-September 9, 2008-Recorded Books, the largest

provider of audiobooks for K-12 schools, is giving away excerpts from

the audiobook for Newbery Medal winner Bridge to Terabithia, along

with lesson plans that coordinate with the excerpts. Free downloads

from Katherine Paterson's audiobook will be available through

September 30, 2008, but educators can still listen to the excerpts

online after that.

Two sets of lesson plans and audio excerpts for Bridge to Terabithia

are currently available at

<http://recordedbooks.wordpress.com>recordedbooks.wordpress.com. The

first set focuses on use of simile and metaphor in the book, and the

second set asks kids to get creative in their own Terabithia-like

world. Worksheets are provided to accompany both sets of lesson

plans, and excerpts from the audiobook are available to coordinate

with the lesson.

Recorded Books offers other free lesson plans, worksheets, and audio

at http://recordedbooks.wordpress.com. On Monday, September 15,

Recorded Books will feature a lesson plan on Beverly Cleary's Strider

from Instructional Resource Teacher Laurie McGrath. Educators are

encouraged to send in their own lesson plans that incorporate audio

via the 'Featured Educator' link on the

<http://recordedbooks.wordpress.com>blog. Submitters can win free

audiobooks if their lesson plans are chosen to be featured. For more

details, see http://recordedbooks.wordpress.com.
