Curt Gabrielson’s new book “Kinetic Contraptions” made me want to sit down and start tinkering! We recently mentioned his previous book on our front page, along with some other engineering resources, and this one looks equally interesting. It’s full of cool projects powered by hobby motors that any handy 10 or 11 year old (younger with help) can build. Plus, for each one he’s included “The Science Behind It” that explains the concepts involved. There’s really something for everyone – from spinning snow globes to amphibious cars, all made from free or cheap “junk” like straws, checkers, pop bottles and batteries.
