April is National Gardening Month

The National Gardening Association offers a feature that allows you to check on gardening in your area. Visit their site here and look for, “View your Regional Report” where can enter your zipcode to access the information.

They also have a “Kids Gardening” area that offers a newsletter, Classroom Projects,Thematic Explorations, Parents ‘Primer, Activities, Kidsgardening FAQs, School Greenhouse Guide, Exploring Hydroponics, Harvest of History, Mountain Adventures, Online Teachers’ Course and more.

I am at best an amateur gardener, but I enjoy learning all I can each year in an attempt to get my gardens just right. I happen to have a small yard and it gets wet, so this for the second year I am going to attempt a square foot garden in raised beds.

Another resource that I like to use is the Ohio 4- H Extension program. You can find your state’s extension by finding your state 4-H program website here.

Unschooling, what is it? Unschooling, Un schooling what is it? Defining unschooling is a little like describing a color, and every bit as elusive. You can rely on commonly-held descriptions; for example, we generally all agree what blue looks like, but what about cobalt, aqua, navy, cyan, sapphire, azure, indigo, cerulean, turquoise or cornflower? It’s […]
