Little House on the Prairie Changes

Thanks to Valerie for sharing the changes that are in the works for the Little House on the Prairie Series.

It’s not always easy to find a good book, let alone a great series of books that your entire family loves. Our family loved reading the Little House on the Prairie Books by Laura Ingalls Wilder several times when our boys were young. They were a part of our family. I was thrilled when I learned that the Little House Series was continued on by author Melissa Wiley who wrote The Martha and Charlotte Series. In these series she brought us stories of Laura’s grandmother and great grandmother and had plans of sharing more of their stories with us, but sadly that is not going to happen.

At her blog, Here in the Bonny Glenn, Melissa explains her decision to not continue writing the books. I want to personally thank Ms. Wiley for her wonderful writing and for following her heart on this matter. I heartily agree that children deserve literature and not twaddle and WE the readers are the ones that must let the publishers know what we want.

Valerie also pointed out that you can purchase copies of the Little House on the Prairie Series from FUN Books. When I visited there I noted that you can also purchase the Martha and Charlotte Series as well.

  • Unschooling
Defining unschooling is a little like describing a color, and every bit as elusive. You can rely on commonly-held descriptions; for example, we generally all agree what blue looks like, but what about cobalt, aqua, navy, cyan, sapphire, azure, indigo, cerulean, turquoise or cornflower? It’s the same with unschooling. There’s a generally accepted definition, […]
