Gadgetology by Pam Abrams was inspired by a cooking class for kids that she taught out of her New York home. The book contains fun ideas using 35 cooking gadgets for simple recipes, crafts, games and experiments. Here are a few:

• Explore the many uses for an apple corer, building a child’s cooking confidence while also building an edible log cabin!
• How do you make a strawberry taste like orange juice? A marinade injector can be used for surprising flavor experiments.
• Learn how to use a citrus squeezer to make fresh lemonade…and write secret messages in lemon juice “invisible ink”.

• Kids can use a garlic press to make pickles at home…but waht else can a garlic press be used for? How about making a jellybean nest?
