Home school group wins major awards at Model United Nations competition, 16 April 2008, La Vista Sun, Papillion, Nebraska
A local high school home school group competed against more than 100 high schoolers at the Model United Nations competition at the University of Nebraska at Omaha Feb. 29 through March 2.
After winning three major awards at UNO, the group traveled up to Wheaton College in Illinois in early April, where some of the members won even more awards.
“The UN competitions are about trying to get kids to understand the global repercussions – give them more of a working understanding of what the UN can and can’t do,” Wilson said. “They role play how different countries would debate and interact.”
