Marine Corps Times, Springfield, Virginia, 30 March 2007, MCRC lifts limits on home-schooled applicantsThe release, published on the Association’s Website March 26, states that recruiters can now consider home-school students “tier 1″ applicants, meaning they are no longer lumped in with “tier 2″ applicants who have General Education Degrees or alternative education certificates.
Under current recruiting practices, there are caps on the number of “tier 2″ applicants each Marine recruiting station can enlist and only “tier 1″ recruits are entitled to bonuses for joining.
For background information on enlisting in one of the military services, please see the recruiting information at The Military Homeschooler. Current information should be obtained from a recruiter.
