Writing for the St. Louis Homeschooling Examiner, Tere Scott profiles the son of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, who reprises a popular movie role:
The Karate Kid was released June 11 at theatres in the St. Louis area and across the U.S. The movie’s story is about a young boy (Jaden Smith) who encounters a bully at his school. In an effort to defend himself, he finds help from an elderly maintenance man (Jackie Chan) who happens to be a Kung Fu master and steps up and teaches the boy self-defense.
Jaden Smith makes the role of the young boy come alive. But, in real life a school bully is not something he will most likely ever encounter. Why? He’s homeschooled.
Jaden Smith made his film debut in the 2006 film The Pursuit of Happyness as Christopher, the son of Will Smith’s character. Tere’s article includes a great quote from Will and Jada Pinkett Smith in an interview with Regis & Kelly in 2007, and a link to photos and more information.
