“It’s really just researching, and asking people, and (creating) a kind of formula,” Schulz said. “OK, I like this kind of curriculum, as opposed to this kind. Some people succeed in other ways. It’s all about what you like.”
As a home-schooling parent, Schulz likes to talk to other parents interested in home schooling.
Glenn Hamilton, director of freshman admissions at Dominican, said the number of incoming freshmen who were home schooled is growing. Applicants must take the ACT or SAT, and Dominican wants to ensure home-schooled students have taken the basic college prep courses. Hamilton said he may interview home schoolers to make sure they’re comfortable in a classroom setting.
