In the educational scheme of things, a question of contradictions always pops into my head seeing a public school website with an Office of Independent Education. From Florida’s Okaloosa County (Public) Schools:
Okaloosa County is a community that has as one of its responsibilities the education of children for their future….and ours. We intend to create a seamless educational plan for two groups of students: students that are schooled at home and students that are schooled in public schools.
The Office of Independent Education is here to serve you.
The provided homeschool packet is informative with the actual Florida statutes and other useful materials. But it doesn’t seem necessary for plagued public schools to concern themselves with home education or other private (independent) learning methods. Surely, the more direct home education information route would be local homeschool groups.
