On 18 May 2007, the Pennsylvania legislature referred House Bill 1273 to the Education committee. This bill is recommended elsewhere as a bill for Pennsylvania homeschoolers to support. I asked an online friend from Pennsylvania what her opinion of the bill is, and she said:

HB 1273 isn’t bad but I don’t think it goes far enough. It tightens up loose ends and codifies how school districts are to require more information from families in all cases, not just those with ‘inappropriate education.’ During the appeal process it permits home education to continue. I wouldn’t object if it passed but I won’t go out on a limb to support it.
HB 505 was introduced into the Pennsylvania legislature in February of 2005 but died in November of 2006 when the legislature adjourned. The language of HB 505 was apparently included in HB 280, but whether that bill passed isn’t (so far) readily findable in searches.
