Even though it’s passed unanimously out of the House, North Carolina House Bill 230/S 189 is controversial.
Charlotte’s News 14 posted an article: Homeschool parents protest new legislation

A group of home school parents are headed to Raleigh to speak out against a bill making its way through the General Assembly.
The bill calls for “clarification” of the current law regarding home schools. It has passed the House but has not come before the Senate for discussion.
Some parents in Iredell County said the issue should not be in the hands of lawmakers. Parent Amy Stepanek never thought home schooling would be in the cards for her.
The bill’s opponents feel any changes should not be through a more precarious legislative process. Instead, many want any changes to happen via a Department of Non Public Education process.
