One room schoolgarage
This one’s not really about homeschooling but it’s nostalgically warm and fuzzy.
You can’t beat the commute. "It’s about six seconds from the coffee pot in the kitchen to the classroom," Hinkle says.
She retired in 1997 after 19 years at the two-room Harris School south of Harrisburg. But when the Harrisburg School District closed the school two years later, a group of mothers hatched a plan. All were proponents of intimate teaching settings and were planning on home-schooling their children. And all were huge fans of Hinkle, who’s that rare blend of taskmaster and everyone’s favorite grandmother.
