Because of the push for universal preschool in California, a new online e-list group has been established.
A major concern about the establishment in California of publicly-funded preschool, is that it will set a precedent for the rest of the country. If preschool-for-all is adopted, homeschooling families will have yet another hoop to jump through, and this time for their younger children, who, in previous times, were known as ‘tots’ not ‘preschoolers’ (as if school were the defining characteristic of children).
The site-owner of Universal Preschool notes:
- Take the challenge! If you belong to a homeschool support group and don’t have a discussion list just for parents of preschoolers — start one. Invite preschool parents to your homeschool Park Days — or develop a support group park day just for preschoolers and their moms and dads. Encourage veteran parents to mentor them. More than ever, parents of tiny children are being barraged by the noise from our culture that screams at them to institutionalize their children, implying that they are not capable of nurturing their own kids. You can make a difference in their lives and the lives of their children.
