In collecting homeschooling information from around the country, it always seems as if it ‘all happens’ somewhere else. It’s quite a surprise when it’s not only in your state, but your rep. (not senator) who did it!
- Senate Bill Number 912
AN ACT To amend chapter 161, RSMo, by adding thereto one new section relating to the establishment of a virtual school.
Given the various reductions in social programs in Missouri, this is a strange time to be introducing the need for virtual schools, a tactic that will reduce the number of jobs available to teachers in the state. Yes, virtuals will reduce the amount the state needs to spend on ‘education,’ but these things always have trade-offs, and one is a reduced number of jobs. Developments in the IT industry turned many Kansas City computer programmers into pizza sales staff (the fate of one of my husband’s co-workers), do we want to do that with teachers, too?
