An article on the Tampa Bay Online’s sports section offers a look at an exceptional athlete:
No matter where Max del Monte attended school, Chamberlain High track coach Bill Strack is fairly certain his 16-year-old prodigy would be exactly where he is today – the fastest high school sophomore in the U.S. for the 1-mile run.
This piece goes beyond the easy story of an exceptional athlete with that strange homeschool twist and actually touches issues teens face. Max’s mother tells us how homeschooling is fits her family:
“There are so many benefits (to home schooling) but I think the main thing is the richness of life we’ve been able to have together,” Christine [del Monte] said. “Their lives have not been consumed only by textbooks and exams and things that someone is telling them they need to do.”
