Binghamton private school closes doors, 29 September 2007, News 10 Now, Syracuse, New York
And [kids returning to school] won’t be happening for at least the rest of the year. Declining enrollment and hard economic times in recent years are reasons for closing the only nonsectarian private school in the area.
Some parents are not wasting anytime trying to find their children a new place to learn with the same philosophy. They’ve asked one of the teachers at The Susquehanna School to participate in a new program that will begin at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Monday.
Parent Andrew Walkling said, “We’re calling it the Binghamton Progressive Educational Cooperative, which allows for a home schooling option for our kids relying on this wonderful teacher at The Susquehanna School and parents will also be providing home schooling for the kids when the teacher is not with them.”
