We could use some Respect around here.
In addition to the wording in articles about virtual schools and the attempts to “bring homeschoolers back to the fold,” or “netting” us, or “targeting” us (see the end of the blog post before this one) there are the clever-clogs who think anyone outside their celestial sphere is a joke.
IPO Filing: K12, Inc. (LRN), 27 July 2007, 24/7 Wall Street
A virtual public school system opetrator called K12 Inc. has filed to come public via an IPO. K12 has taken the proposed ticker of “LRN” on the NYSE. The joint underwriters in the deal are listed as Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse.
More data can be found at the www. k12. com website. Hopefully this skool kan deel with the dumm kids in the No Child Left Behind program that end up holding back the entire class in the public school system. Of course, it means they’ll have to be able to operate a computer.
I’ll take credit for the bold, but the italics and hokey spelling aren’t mine. They’re in the original.
I don’t think the targets of this piece are homeschoolers because the writer doesn’t show much understanding about the ed biz, but picking on kids by grownups deserves no respect.
