Pantagraph.com, Bloomington-Normal, Illinois, 14 January 2007, Pantagraph spelling bees will have home-schooled division
BLOOMINGTON — Home-schooled students will have an opportunity this year to participate in the Pantagraph’s spelling bees, with a chance for the winner to compete against the nation’s best spellers.
The countywide bees, cosponsored by Busey Bank, are open to students in McLean, Logan, Livingston and DeWitt Counties. This year, for the first time, home-schooled students from McLean, Logan, Livingston and DeWitt counties can compete in their own bee.
Registration information is at the site.
Also, in answer to the questioners in the Comments section, I would assume that the reason that a “homeschool division” is being added is to provide “division playoffs” to provide winners for succeeding competitions. But that’s just a guess.
