The Perry’s three older children had gone to faith-based private schools. Micah was the family’s first child to attend public school, Stony Brook Elementary. He spent seven years at the school and had a great experience, his mother said. But after considering the options for middle school, they decided to home-school Micah. However, they learned that if special-needs students are not enrolled in the public schools at age 18, they lose opportunities through the state.
Micah got tutoring at Lightship Learning Services in Dennisport, and his parents decided to send him to Harwich High School after hearing about programs offered there.
