A positive article about Seattle Homeschoolers gathering to celebrate:
Homeschooling has soared in recent years
By CAROL SMITH
Kids from toddlers to teens raced around the Wallingford playground Tuesday to celebrate not going back to school, the day before most Seattle youngsters are preparing to go back to class.
But that didn’t mean the kids on the playground weren’t pumped about their education. For the kids, who are part of the Seattle Homeschool Group — one of the largest secular groups of its kind in the area — every day presents an opportunity to learn.
It is one of the few stories I’ve read in recent years that doesn’t confuse the public school alternative programs with homeschooling. If you read the comments in the Soundoff section (link at the end of the story) you will see why we need to be well-informed about the differences. The absence of of the obligatory quote from a worried school official about the supposed deficiencies of homeschooling is also notable.
Kudos to Seattle Homeschool Group for supporting homeschooling in Seattle!
