Today, both of my newsreaders, the one for news articles, and the one for the blogs I read, contained warning headlines that German homeschoolers are again under the gun. One headline was from the HomeschoolBuzz, and the other was from World Net Daily (WND). The Buzz linked to the WND article.
Intrigued, I checked for new information about Rosemarie and Jürgen Dudek using Google. I didn’t find anything new. All the entries were from 2007.
WND specifically mentioned Netzwerk Bildungsfreiheit(Educational Freedom Network), so I went there to see if maybe Google just hadn’t rated a report about the Dudek family at the Netzwerk site highly enough because of lack of links. On their Aktuelles page — ‘current events’ — the most recent entry is, “Der deutsche Schulzwang – ein vergessenes Relikt aus dunkler Zeit” (German compulsory schooling — a forgotten leftover from a darker time). The article is from January of this year.
WND also referred to a letter that Herr Dudek wrote to HSLDA. I checked HSLDA’s website to see if the letter had been uploaded. The only page at the HSLDA site about Herr and Frau Dudek is from 20 September 2007. Despite this, blogs have picked up the report as if it is something new.

I like staying current with the homeschool happenings in Germany. I can’t do much from here, other than write about what’s going on, but that’s a contribution, too. However, I don’t think that what appears to be a ‘slow news day’ report at WND, with no new information about the current status of the Dudek family, is helpful.
