Student loan consolidation is a major problem in our society today. Several years ago one of our writers wrote a good article about teaching your kids how to manage their money and make a budget. Please take a look at this great family oriented article about smart money management.

In keeping with the economic conditions in the world today we’re going to focus on this particular educational problem, college financing and student loans. Living with a $600 a month payment? Consolidation or outright government forgiveness is all a lot of college students can look forword to.
Let us know in the comments section how much your kids or your loans payments are.

Thank you so much for bringing the issue of student debt to light. Student debt is reaching crisis levels with many students not only financing their education but also subsidizing their lifestyles with this debt. I have a crushing 80,000 in debt from undergraduate and graduate school and make 47,000 as apublic school teacher. I can not even imagine the day this burden will be gone. The worst part of these loans is (and nobody EVER explained this to me) STUDENT LOANS ARE NOT DISCHARGABLE IN BANKRUPTCY!!! You will repay these loans no matter what happens even if you are disabled.
Student Loan Consolidation is on the rise, I just think we need to not loan anymore money to student in the first 2 years, but just give anyone that wants to go to college 2 years tuition for free, they get grants and such for books. Then we will know if they are loan worthy by the time they get to last 2 years. This solution is good for everyone. And will cost a lot less for everyone. This is just another example the rich ensnaging young people to a long term servatude just to get a college education and change status levels.
