Homeschool NonDiscrimination Act 2005

HR 3753/ S 1691-Homeschool NonDiscrimination Act 2005

Will this action lead to organizations becoming – by law – the official accrediting agencies of homeschoolers? Will there be a federal registrar of homeschooled students?

Helen, sweetie, I know you are trying to do eight things at once, but the offensive Section 522 is a whole new ball game. It is NOT in H.R. 3753 or S. 1619, but in the “National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2006″ which has already been agreed to by the Senate and stands a good chance of passing the House. It’s a 739 page act that authorizes National Defense for the Fiscal year 2006.

But those couple little paragraphs that make up Section 522 are so devastating HSLDA didn’t even tell their members and there is nothing at their web site. They obviously do not want anyone to know they are doing this. So sad.

I suggest homeschoolers contact both of their Senators and their House member as soon as possible and request removal of Section 522 from H.R 1815 and S. 1042, “Recruitment and Enlistment of Home Schooled Students in the Armed Forces.”

Good advice, Mary – and thanks for straightening out my goof-up. (Note to self: Must slow down and focus…)

We are proud of defending the 1st amendment and standing up to a frivolous lawsuit, however, this civil liberties exercise temporarily ground HEM to a halt, we are coming back strong with the May-June/12 issue.

Looking Forward
