History of the Laws & Regs

For the past couple of days there’s been an interesting discussion about the history of homeschooling laws and regulations taking place on the HEM-Networking list.

The discussion started with this post on Monday, in which the writer asked, in part: “…in the history of homeschooling, before we had laws (home education, homeschooling, home instruction, etc/) what were the arguments for and against specific ‘homeschooling’ laws?”

Since then there have been almost 100 posts, and some fascinating discussion of homeschooling’s laws, regulations, and how they came to be.
