Mental Health Screening

Homeschooling Illinois – Legislation and Learning (HILL): NOT A PARTNER Not a Partner not a part……

Susan Ryan of Illinois has been tracking the mental health screening issue for a long time now, and her insights about the importance of being informed on this topic should be read by every parent, homeschooling or not. For example:

What is this insane world where children now have their parents and family as “key partners” with governmental agencies? For criminy sakes, let’s think about this and see it for what it is!

Do I even want to be asked if my children will undertake a mental health screening? No. If I’m taking the kid in for rash, then I don’t want to be messed with for a mental health screening. Sheesh…as I write this, it is just so ludicrous and yet so reality based in Illinois.

Susan’s knowledge about and coverage of this critical issue makes her blog an important one to read regularly. I certainly do.

One Response to Mental Health Screening

Thanks, Helen. Reminds me I need to fix my typo. (A mental health screening proponent might think I meant rash…behavior?)
I sorta try not to get snarky about this stuff, but it seems to just pour out of me with this issue and the big picture.

The issues facing homeschoolers today are fundamentally the same as 30 years ago when HEM was first published.
