Salem Times-Commoner: Homeschooling trend growing in America
Typical newsy piece with the typical experts, professionals, homeschool moms and assorted others quoted:
“Homeschooling is’t for everyone,” said one mother. “It is a calling. It takes dedication and a willingness to spend most of your time with your children.”
Across this vast nation, a trend is taking shape that began in the 1980s with a handful of dedicated parents who felt it best for their children to be removed from the educational systems of the country in favor of the mother and/or father educating them at home. It has grown considerably since then.
The most interesting part of this piece is that it’s the first of a multi-part series of articles on homeschooling to be run in this paper, as part of an effort to “…help our readers stay abreast of national trends that affect the local area.”
Shades of the ABJ? This might be one to keep a weather eye on.
