Thank you for this post. I have 5 kids, and too much of the time I run around like a chicken with my head cut off, wishing I had a break from all of them! Sadly, sometimes it takes little reminders such as these to remember some of the reasons I wanted to homeschool in the first place.

I was searching for my blog online when I found your post. It was interesting to read what I'd said in that interview such a long time ago, especially today. I had conversations with three different people about how little time families have together when children are in school, how much planning is required to ensure time for children and parents to talk and connect. Homeschooling means time together. What a gift!

Learning At Home is now in its third edition with a new cover and more pages, including a new section called - Inviting Children To Write. I am so pleased that readers continue to find it helpful. Thank you, Helen, for reminding me about what I said 10 years or more ago.
