Embracing Curiosity

16 year old Anna recently started a blog titled Adversarian: the musings of a changing mind. She describers herself as “an unschooled teen recovering from public school.” From An Argument for Unschooling: Embracing Curiosity:

Unschoolers don’t ( figuratively speaking ) sit in an empty library, waiting for their children to ask for a book. Instead they surround their children with opportunities – like a huge library full of books – and support them as they browse through them. Whereas students in public schools are taught to ignore what the teacher doesn’t tell them to do, unschoolers live by following curiousity. They learn how to find knowledge, a skill much more valuable than knowing a list of facts.

One Response to Embracing Curiosity

Her blog is great! There are so few unschooling teens out there blogging specifically about unschooling (I do as well, but I’m in the minority), so I was quite happy when I stumbled across her blog a few weeks ago. :-)

    Peace,
