"Dropping the bomb," as I have come to call it... telling your parents that you are going to homeschool their grandchildren, can be the biggest hurdle that many families face on their homeschooling paths.

The first things my roommate asked me was, "Do you really think you are prepared for college?"

Christian, our son, got yet another note from Kalamazoo College. This one asked for "written certification" of his high school graduation. The note alarmed Christian and I must admit that I too felt panic set in.

I could see all kinds of benefits to the unschooling philosophy. Why, then, did my children yearn so for classroom education and demand structure at home?
